Active vacationing in Kaltern – in the midst of life instead of on the sidelines
Kaltern is perfect for who love the outdoors. Right from your holiday apartment, you can set off on scenic hikes, panoramic bike tours, or exciting climbing adventures. The routes lead through vineyards, over the Mendel Pass, and to hidden alpine pastures. For those who want to explore higher regions, the Fennberg or Truden offer a variety of “via ferratas” (reinforced / supported stairways) – or you can test your skills at the modern “Salewa Cube” climbing center in the capital city of Bozen. And the majestic Dolomites with their legendary rock faces? Just half an hour away!

The delightful custom of "Törggelen" in Kaltern – Autumn in all Her glory, with rich traditions
When the vineyards turn golden and the scent of roasted chestnuts fills the air, it’s Törggele season. A highlight for all gourmets! In cozy farmhouse parlors, the new wine is sampled, accompanied by South Tyrolean specialties such as Schlutzer, Surfleisch, and sweet pastries. An experience for all the senses – from mid-September to the end of November. Our recommendation: reserve a table in advance – we are happy to share our personal favorite spots with you!

The Überetsch area – exploring a region rich in history
Culture fans take note! The Überetsch region with Kaltern and Eppan is a true treasure chest of historical architecture. Magnificent manor houses, enchanted castles, and romantic palaces shape the landscape – many of them can be visited. A special highlight: Sigmundskron Castle, today home to a Messner Mountain Museum, personally curated by Reinhold Messner. You might even encounter him during your visit!

Outings and excursions galore! Kaltern is the place to begin your explorations!
Want to see more? Perfect! The provincial capital of Bozen entices with shopping under medieval arcades, Merano delights with a Mediterranean flair and imperial history.
